Starbright is a registered charity and a not-for-profit located in Kelowna and serving the Central Okanagan, from Peachland to Oyama. The agency provides early intervention programming and therapies for babies, toddlers, and preschool children who have - or are at risk for - a developmental challenge. Employing therapists, clinicians, consultants, and inclusive childcare educators with extensive expertise in pediatrics, Starbright has been providing services for 57 years. Started by the first pediatrician in the Okanagan, Dr. Cliff Henderson, a local physiotherapist, and a group of parents whose children needed support that was not available in their home community, the agency has grown and adapted to meet an ever-broadening array of needs. Its scope of services are funded through a service agreement with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). Starbright prides itself on its family-centred, multi-disciplinary, and goal-focused services. Starbright has a long history of community and provincial collaboration with other complementary agencies providing specialized supports, and hosts therapy clinics for not only its little clients, but for those in the broader locations within the Okanagan.
