Hector was born just outside of Mazatlan, Sinaloa Mexico, in the countryside. He grew up in the city of Mazatlan where he could attend school. When he was 24 he traveled across Canada, and after a tour of the country, he decided to move to Calgary, AB in 1975. After marrying Laurie and having his daughter Gabriela and son Sergio, the family moved to Kelowna, BC in 1991. Both Hector and Laurie have worked in the restaurant industry for over 30 years. After so many years of working for other people, they decided it was time to work for themselves, so they started their own business. In 1999 Hector's Casa restaurant was founded. Using recipes from Hector's many family members he developed a menu of traditional north-western home-style cuisine. The restaurant has always been family run with Laurie, Sergio, Gabriela, and of course, Hector.
